Construed As A Deep Thought...

Well, some might consider my topic today to be a deep thought. Maybe it's not, but if you don't like it, get your own blog! :oP

I don't know what started this chain of thoughts, but it all started when I woke up. I was thinking about how most of the time things are just on an everyday slightly boring level. We don't pay attention to those days, and we don't really continue to remember the boredom or non-excitement. We only remember in extremes. We remember when we were sad, when we were really happy and when we were really excited. I couldn't tell you what I do every day. I don't remember it! That's a sad statement about my life, the nonexistent excitement, but it's true. We only remember extremes.

I remember meeting my nephews and neices for the first time, and when I got my license (hey that was huge to me, I waited 18 years). I remember how I felt when I really liked someone, or found a new friend that I really clicked with. I remember the grief I felt when my grandparents died. I even remember the smell of the funeral home and the soap that was in the bathroom when my nephew died. I can't tell you what I ate all last week. I can't tell you what I had conversations with half of my friends about.

The point is that our memory operates on highs and lows. For instance, I wont remember being bored unless I was so incredibly bored and stir crazy that I felt like I would explode if I didn't get out of the house.

I also realized that without those moments in between, we'd go insane. Going from being really sad to really happy would mess us up. It's too extreme. So without the boring moments we'd all wind up in straight jackets in padded rooms. So.....be thankful for your boredom!!!

Hah! You Thought I Gave Up!

Well, no, I didn't give up on this blog. I just take a very long time to think about anything to put here.

Saturday, I went to see the Nashville Predators vs. Chicago Black Hawks game with my sister and her family. They tied 2-2, but it was altogether a very fun evening and I even got a puck out of it. I've started collecting those, one for each game I went to. If I hate the opposing team, like when it's the Mighty Ducks, I'll buy a Predators puck. If I don't think they're a bunch of jerks then I'll buy the opposing teams puck. I should say though, that for some reason I did buy the mighty ducks puck the first time I saw them play. Never again. They're just a bunch of meanies!

Sunday, I met up with some friends to play Laser Tag. I love laser tag, mostly because I like darting around in the dark behind walls in typical James Bond (or should I say...well one of the many Bond women) style. I admit it, I like shooting things. Especially my friends. Well, I wouldn't really want to shoot them, I just pretend they're a moving paper target in those vests.

After we played laser tag we went to Wal-Mart. All kinds of trouble can be made in Walmart, and I think every teenager in every city hangs out there for lack of a better idea at one time or another. It was mostly running around through every section laughing at dumb products, or saying "awwwww" when we saw something cute (the girls anyway). So, it was the usual trip to walmart, at least the one you have without your parents. :oD

I'm really starting to get back into Punk music, and also Punk Rock & Emo. I think there's just something freeing about singing along with a singer who doesn't try to sound like the best singer in the world (thank you Celine...byebye). Not to mention everything on the radio these days is really crappy. I get sick of hearing about people's magic sticks and skanks.

On that note, some good songs to check out:

"Anthem of Our Dying Day" & "Until the Day I Die" - Story of the Year

"In This Diary", "Make It Last" & "Takeoffs and Landings" - The Ataris

"Baby Blue" & "I Want to Hear You Sad" - The Early November

"Best of Me", "Cheek to Cheek", "Leaving" & "Make Yourself At Home" - The Starting Line

"Porcelain", "This Side of Brightness" & "Understanding In A Car Crash" - Thursday

Last but not least...

Check out Pensive They are an up and coming punk band who I think have some really good music. As far as I know they haven't been signed to a label yet, but I definitely think they show potential. So, show some support! Also, visit their website, join the mailing list and get a free promotional cd!

I'd also like to point out that (and thank you Jon for bringing this to my attention) 311 will be playing in Nashville in October so be sure to look that up on ticketmaster. I propose we get a big group together to go to that, or even a small one. I really don't care as long as I have someone to go with. :oP

Well, that's all for now folks. Take care and goodnight!
